Mortality Rate of carbofuran to a brackish water Oligochaete, Pontodrilus bermudensis Beddard

Abstract: Carbamate compound pesticide (Carbofuran) is found toxic to brackish water Oligochaete Pontodrilus bermudensis at different percent of seawater (25, 50, 75 100%) at different time of exposure (24, 48, 72, 96 hours and 10 days). The pesticide is highly toxicity in high salinity and long term of exposure. Carbofuran exerted more influence at long term period and in high salinity. The results showed that the toxicity of the pesticide as synergistic at high concentration of sea water.
