Vasodilator effects of norwogonin in isolated rat aorta

Abstract: In the present study, we investigated the effect of flavonoid norvogonin on contractile activity of rat aorta smooth muscle. Isometric tension forces were recorded using a force transducer FT-03 (Grass Instrument Co., USA). Norvogonin posses a pronounced relaxing effect, which is mediated by complex mechanism including activation of the NO-guanylate cyclase system, inhibition of Ca2+ influx and their release from SR, which leads to a decrease in [Ca2+]I in smooth muscle cells and and their relaxation.
