Food and Feeding Habits of Catla Catla (Hamilton) From Lake Udai Sagar, Udaipur

Abstract:
In the present study, an attempt has been made to investigate the food and feeding habits of an Indian major carp Catla catla from Udai Sagar, Udaipur. On the basis of qualitative and quantitative analysis of gut contents, Catla catla has been categorised as planktivorous (zooplankton feeder). Gastrosomatic index (GaSI) of Catla catla species of this lake was calculated and found to be higher during study period.
