The variety of freshwater fishes was studied with the aid of monthly samples accrued from two tributaries of river Ganges (Rapti and Ghaghra) during July 2021 to June 2023. Over few many years, freshwater ecosystems have suffered from intense human innervations resulting in habitat loss and degradation and due to which many fish species have become especially endangered specifically where heavy call for is positioned on freshwater. In gift examine total 48 fish species. On the idea of species richness and percentage composition the order Cypriniformes become maximum dominant (32 species) observed through Perciformes (7 species), Ophiocephaliformes, Tetradontiformes and Clupeiformes (2 species every), Mastacembeliformes, Cichliformes and Beloniformes (1 species every). Out of forty eight fish species sixteen species are threatened of these tributaries wherein 30 species are in least situation (LC), 09 species are prone (VU), 05 species are close to Threatened (NT), 02 species are Endangered (EN), 01 species isn't always Evaluated (NE) and 01 species is information deficient. The fishes of these rivers are beneath chance because of anthropogenic activities along with overfishing, agricultural wastes and pollutants subsequently creator strongly advise practical conservation movement plan to save you the lack of fish diversity.
