A preliminary study on avifaunal species diversity of University of Kota (UOK) campus, Kota, Rajasthan, India

Abstract:

This study aimed to inventory of the bird species found on the University of Kota campus. Over a year, from September 2023 to September 2024, researchers identified 88 bird species across 43 families. The campus was divided into three distinct habitats: Temporary wetland, Botanical garden, and the rocky area. In terms of feeding habits, insectivorous birds were the most abundant of the recorded species. The total bird community has 14 winter migrants, 11 seasonal migrants and 5 summer migrants bird species visit the UOK campus. Most of the species are the least concern but some species needed conservation efforts. The campus had a wide range of temporary wetland, rocky areas and urban/sub urban areas.
