This extensive field survey and sampling was an attempt first time in the rural areas around Rajkot City to explore and investigate the breeding and resting habitat preferences and distribution pattern, and density of Anopheles culicifacies species. Species taxonomical identification, larval as well as adult density, and distribution of breeding sites of the species have been studied in the rural areas of seven villages around the Rajkot City. Results show that the highest density of adult Anopheles culicifacies was recorded in the month of September-2007&08, which was the pick month of monsoon in this region also recorded maximum larval density during monsoon, and the lowest adult density was recorded in the month May of during2007&08, which was the lowest during the summer season in the study area also recorded minimum larval density during summer season. Furthermore, breeding sites of this species were also recorded more during the monsoon, post-monsoon, and winter seasons. It was clearly indicated that climatic conditions (temperature, rainfall, humidity, etc.) and natural and manmade breeding and resting habitats play a dynamic role in the density and distribution of Anopheles culicifacies species.
