This study presents the checklist of bird species recorded at the campus of the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (26.8563° N, 80.9499° E). NBRI is a premier botanical garden and research institute with extensive green spaces and rich floral diversity. Surveys were conducted from December 2023 to May 2024 using the Point Count Method with 10×50 binoculars and a Canon 200D camera (18-55 mm, 55-250 mm lenses). A total of 61 bird species were observed, photographed, and identified using standard field guides, literature, and online repositories. These species represented 14 orders and 33 families, with Passeriformes being the most dominant (33 species). Most species were assessed as ‘Least Concern’ by the IUCN. The avifauna was largely resident (≈ 87%), with migratory visitors (≈ 13%), including both winter (e.g., Common Chiffchaff) and summer migrants (e.g., Asian Koel). Feeding guild analysis revealed insectivores (31.7%) as the largest group, followed by omnivores (23.8%), granivores (12.7%), carnivores (9.5%), piscivores (9.5%), frugivores (6.3%), and nectarivores (3.2%). This comprehensive checklist provides a valuable baseline for future monitoring and underscores the conservation value of urban green spaces as vital habitats and bio-indicators of ecological health.
