The present study documents the avifaunal diversity and distribution of Barpeta District, Assam, India, during September 2024 to September 2025. A total of 49 bird species belonging to 29 families and 14 orders were recorded using line transect, flush count, and total count methods across different habitats. Passeriformes was the dominant order, and most species were categorized as Least Concern under the IUCN Red List, with a few Vulnerable and Endangered species. Wetlands and beels of the district supported high bird diversity, highlighting their ecological importance. The study emphasizes the need for habitat conservation to protect avian biodiversity in this flood-prone region.
